We stamp the 17-inch deck from single-piece steel and powder-coat it for rust resistance in humid climates. The brushless motor spins the mulching blade at 3,200 RPM, and the deck design channels clippings into a rear-mounted airflow path that fills the bag evenly.
Six-position height adjustment
The single-lever height control shifts all four wheels simultaneously, with detents at 1.18, 1.57, 1.97, 2.36, 2.76, and 3.15 inches. The lowest setting works for tight fairway cuts on Bermuda or zoysia, while the top position leaves fescue and ryegrass taller for drought tolerance. Deck clearance at maximum height prevents scalping over sprinkler heads and tree roots.
Bag capacity and clipping management
The 13.2-gallon fabric collection bag attaches to the rear discharge chute with a snap-lock frame, and a top handle lets you remove it with one hand while the motor is still running. The bag’s mesh sides let you see fill level without stopping, and the rigid internal frame prevents collapse when you’re dumping.
We reinforced the bottom seam with double stitching because grass moisture adds weight—a full bag of wet spring clippings can hit 18 pounds. The fabric is machine-washable, and replacement bags mount in under ten seconds without tools.

Mulching works best when grass is dry and you're cutting no more than one-third of the blade height per session. Wet clippings tend to clump under the deck and may require an extra pass.
The main difference is deck width—the 17LM has a 17-inch deck, while the 18LM uses an 18-inch deck. Both mowers share the same dual 24V battery system, brushless motor, and 13.2-gallon bag.
The 18LM covers slightly more ground per pass but weighs about two pounds more. Choose the 17LM for tighter yards with more obstacles, or the 18LM if you prioritize cutting speed on open lawns.
