The MJ401E handles lawns up to 1/4 acre efficiently. Its 14-inch cutting width and corded design work best for yards under 5,000 square feet where you can reach all areas with a single 50- to 100-foot extension cord. For larger properties, consider our cordless MJ401C or wider-deck models.
The mower does not include an extension cord. We recommend a heavy-duty 14-gauge outdoor-rated cord at least 50 feet long to ensure safe operation and full power delivery to the 12-amp motor. Lighter-gauge cords can cause voltage drop and reduce cutting performance.
You can use the MJ401E in both modes. Attach the rear bag for clipping collection, or remove it to mulch. In mulching mode, the blade recirculates clippings under the deck to chop them finely before depositing them back onto the lawn.
With typical residential use — mowing once per week during the growing season — the steel blade maintains acceptable sharpness for one full season. We recommend inspecting the blade every 20–25 hours of run time and sharpening or replacing it when you notice ragged grass tips or reduced cut quality.
We do not recommend mowing wet grass with any electric mower due to slip hazards and potential electrical safety concerns. Wet clippings also clump inside the deck and bag, reducing airflow and cut quality. For best results, mow when grass is dry to the touch.
Every MJ401E is backed by our full two-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. This covers the motor, blade assembly, switches, and structural components. Wear items like the grass bag fabric and blade edge are considered consumables and are not covered.
